HISTORY

Lamb’s Gate was established in 1974 by Marie Williams. She had completed her Master’s thesis on developing a preschool program and was challenged by several church members to put her thesis into reality. Through the financial support and encouragement of First Evangelical Free Church (now Journey Church), her thesis became Lamb’s Gate Preschool.

For many years, Lamb’s Gate remained a traditional preschool and kindergarten, open to children of all races, ethnic backgrounds and religious affiliations. The ministry expanded later to include a Lunch Buddies program, which extends the school day, and an Early Childhood Development Program, which served 18 month–34 month olds in a therapeutic inclusion setting. Inclusion then began expanding through all age groups and classrooms, allowing children with and without special needs to learn together.
